AMC Pleasure Island is a 24-screen movie theater located in Downtown Disney, Westside. Famous for its huge stadium seats, AMC Pleasure Island was one of the first movie theaters to feature so many gigantic screens. Theaters one and two are massive three level cinemas with a balcony and a mezzanine. Equipped with digital sound, AMC Pleasure Island has been on the cutting edge of the movie entertainment business since its debut.
Originally a 10-screen movie theater, AMC Pleasure Island was expanded, along with the rest of Downtown Disney, to its present 24 screens. The two main theaters were retrofitted with state of the art stadium seats. Theaters 1 and 2 are certified THX Surround Sound and the sound system is far superior to most theaters in the area.
The design of AMC Pleasure Island, inside the theaters and out is old style art deco and the facilities are maintained to the standards one would expect from a business on Disney property. The massive building housing the 24 screens has two lobbies, one at each end. The east lobby, original to the older structure has its own ticket booths as well as full service concession stands and arcade games. The east lobby is located directly opposite Planet Hollywood. The west lobby is basically a mirror image, though newer and the atrium is larger with two massive screens for previews. The entrance to the west lobby is directly across from one of the largest Virgin Megastores in the world.
